Senior Accountant

Title: Senior Accountant

SUMMARY:

Responsible for participating in monthly financial closings, financial reporting packages, reconciliations and analyses.

Senior Accountant – Revenue & Cost of Service is responsible for billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, cost of service accounting, and related financial reporting. This role ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606), supports accurate margin analysis, and partners cross-functionally to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries and general ledger account analyses including supporting schedules
  • Production and issuance of monthly invoices and billing of Accounts Receivable
  • Assist in month end close process
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports
  • Manage A/R collections and monthly A/R Dashboard report

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Revenue Accounting

  • Manage and execute revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Review customer contracts to determine appropriate accounting treatment
  • Prepare and record revenue-related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Maintain revenue schedules, including deferred revenue and unbilled receivables
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue reporting in monthly close

Cost of Service Accounting

  • Analyze and account for cost of service (COS), including third-party service costs
  • Prepare COS accruals and ensure proper expense classification
  • Monitor cost trends and partner with operations to explain variances
  • Support gross margin analysis and reporting

Billing & Invoicing

  • Oversee the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review customer contracts and ensure invoices are aligned with agreed terms
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and coordinate with internal stakeholders
  • Continuously improve billing processes and controls

Accounts Receivable & Collections

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and ensure timely collections
  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies
  • Follow up with customers on outstanding balances and resolve payment issues
  • Assess risk and recommend appropriate actions
  • Reconcile AR accounts and ensure proper documentation

 Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Lead key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare account reconciliations and flux analyses for revenue and COS accounts
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports

Analysis & Business Partnering

  • Provide insights into revenue trends, pricing, and cost efficiency
  • Partner with Strategic Account Team, Operations, and FP&A on cost management
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for revenue and COS

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
  • Assist with audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4–7+ years of accounting experience, with focus on revenue and/or cost accounting
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
